Chaplin Area of The Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network – Field Trip May 26, 2018

Field trip Leader: Stephane Canevet, who is also a steward of the Chaplin Area Shorebird Reserve

Number of Participants: 16

Total trip 36.88 km, 5.5 hr

We had a fabulous day of successful birding given that we saw 58 species, including 3 Piping Plovers, and some 28,000 individuals.  The sanderlings were out in full flocks totalling some 20,000 birds on their own.  We had taken packed lunches, and had a great view of Chaplin Lake with Avocets, Sanderlings, Killdeer, Godwits, and Dowitches feeding around us.
