About the Event
Nature Regina's AGM is open to all members of Nature Regina in good standing.
Following adjournment of the 2022 AGM will be our speaker, Maegan Krajewski of the North Central Community Garden Project: The 4Cs of Community Gardening: Consumption, Community, Capacity, and Control.
Why do people participate in community gardens? What are the impacts of
community gardening? And what is the role of community gardens and gardeners
on the path toward food justice and food sovereignty? The North Central
Community Gardens introduced the Branch Out Project (BOP) in the summer of
2020. In its first year, BOP led to the construction of eight new gardens: six in
residents’ yards and two on school grounds. Participatory research on this project
uncovers four key themes: consumption, community, capacity, and control.
Together, these 4Cs demonstrate the revolutionary potential of community
gardening in shaping grassroots, local food systems that embody the visions of both
food justice and food sovereignty.
