On Saturday, March 23, 2019, Dan Sawatzky led a group of 13 people around Wascana Park from the Legislative Building and shoreline through to Pine Island.
It was a glorious spring day, sunny with no wind, and was 10 above by the time we ended the walk.
We saw the following:
American Robin, Nuthatches (White-breasted and Red-breasted), Downy Woodpeckers, Purple Finches, House Finches, the Wood Duck with its Mallard partner!, American Crows, Common Raven, California Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, and a Herring Gull, Mallard Ducks, Black-capped Chickadees, Canada Geese, Pigeons, a Black-billed Magpie, and House Sparrows.
For mammals, we saw:
Eastern Fox Squirrels and a Richardson Ground Squirrel.
